Life.
I’m not a stickler for accents on tumblr since depending on what you’re using to write, accents can be tricky but yes it should be clear that accents change the meaning of the word.
Without the accent:
cuanto (adverb) = as much as - Example: Come cuanto puedas. Eat as much as you can.
cuanto antes = as soon as possible
en cuanto = as soon as
en cuanto a = as for, as regards
cuanto (adjective) = as many, whatever - Example: Llévate cuantas flores quieras. Take as many flowers as you wish.
With the accent:
cuánto (adverb) = how much, how many - Example: No sé cuánto quieren. I don’t know how much they want.
cuánto (adjective) = how much, how many - Example: ¿Cuántos niños tiene? How many children do you have?
cuánto (pronoun) = how much, how many - Example: ¿Cuántos quieren participar? How many want to participate?
Anyways, practice makes perfect :)

So, I rocked my mini lesson in my Cognition and Reading in Content Areas class today.
I did on las frutas, and it went perfectly.
I had a super cute slideshow, a review, a fun game with a catch song, and an exit card, all while wearing my fruit hat. Soooooo, boom.
Señorita Lugo is happy.
Failing the big Spanish test is never fun, but receiving the bad news doesn’t have to feel like such a drag.
That’s why Justin Barney, a Spanish teacher at Valley Lutheran High School in Phoenix Ariz., turns Spanish #fails into pretty funny memes.
“Telling a student they got a C- has never been more fun,” Barney told the Huffington Post. “I have discovered that it definitely lightens the mood & softens the blow of getting a less-than-desired grade. My students love them…”
Reading Crónica de una Muerte Anunciada for the first time in years and now that I’m re-reading it for class with a closer eye, I have a whole new appreciation for it. It’s times like these when I get excited over annotating a good book that I remember no matter how much I complain I love my major.
Una selección de libros de Jorge Luis Borges digitalizados y listos para descargar, un autor imprescindible en la biografía lectora de cualquiera.
Because sometimes I’m lazy. For the more dedicated, you can find the complete book here.
Both of these resources are in Spanish :)

An interesting, if a little dated, map of the dominant political ideologies in Latin America.

My opinion on Hugo Chavez’s death?
He reduced poverty, increased education funds and helped the poor, but we can’t erase his authoritarian power, and continuous violations of human rights. People should never be persecuted for exercising their freedom of speech.
Trujillo cleaned up the streets of the Dominican Republic, that doesn’t excuse the many assassinated for speaking out against him.
Cuidado con glorificar los opresores.
So for my cognition and reading in content areas class we have to do a mini lesson, I’m doing mine on fruit in Spanish and well just look.
Ah-may-zing.
Boom.
